City of Light Ministries Worldwide (COLMWW) is engaged in an ongoing project that involves the distribution and recycling of secondhand and lightly worn clothing. City of Light Ministries has secured several suppliers who have committed to transfer large quantities of used clothing to us on a weekly and monthly basis. Our goal in this project is to fulfill the scriptural mandate to help the poor and those in need of assistance (Galatians 2:10).
We have begun to supply individuals and institutions with warm winter coats, hats, gloves, & scarves, and have also provided hundreds of sweaters, pants, shirts, shoes, and other garments to those in need. This project is being accomplished through the formation of partnerships with local, national, and international ministries and non-profit and charitable organizations. These groups become the recipients of these provisions free of charge.
From this project, has also come the development of several additional recycling “spin-offs.” These additional recycling projects are beginning to produce financial support for maintenance of the local ministry, and to support local and national non-profit and charitable works, foreign missions, and international relief works. One of these “spin-off” projects is the production of shop wipers and rags for business and industrial use. Currently, this product is being offered and provided to businesses in Northern Vermont and New York in exchange for their support into these various projects. We hope to expand the availability to a larger market as the resources become available.
Our Mission in the development of the COLMWW Recycling Project is consistent with our Mission Statement and we are very excited to see the Lord’s Vision Plan unfold in this endeavor.
